What is a BSN or Sofi number? |
| |
This is the Dutch equivalent to a National Insurance number, but it works a little differently. The Dutch tax office (Belastingdienst) use this number to track your history with them, your tax contributions, tax return filing and so on. It is therefore imperative that you obtain a BSN/Sofi number as soon as possible once you are in The Netherlands, because you cannot compliantly receive a Dutch salary without one. Our Customer Care department can also help you with this, so please do contact us if you need assistance or are not sure what you need to do to obtain the BSN/Sofi number. |

What is the 30% ruling? |

| 6. |
How long do I have to wait to receive the 30% ruling? |
| |
The tax office normally takes 1 to 4 months to officially grant the ruling once we have applied. We will apply and back date any 30% ruling once it has been officially granted |

Do I need Health Insurance? |
| |
Yes, In order to access the healthcare system in the Netherlands, it is essential that you have a private health insurance policy in place. Particularly for persons in the Netherlands on a work permit, if you are extended with your client and need to extend your permit, the authorities will require you to give details of your health insurance policy. If you already have health insurance in your home country, it is a good idea to check with your insurance provider to see whether they can cover you in the Netherlands. If not, then you will need to take out a policy with a Dutch insurance provider. If you would like any information or assistance with that, you can contact our Customer Care department. We can provide you with forms and information for one of the larger health insurance providers in the Netherlands. You are of course free to select which ever policy you desire, and prices do vary depending on the level of cover you wish to take. |
